Simply Being: Guided Nature Therapy (Shinrin-Yoku) at the Shaker Bog

Engage all your senses on a slow, mindful guided journey through the 150 acre Shaker Bog. We will be exploring Shaker thoughts from Sister Ada S. Cummings, Sister R. Mildred Barker, and others throughout history and experiencing the diverse eco-system of the Shaker Bog through guided mindfulness invitations. Session concludes with a “Sharing Tea” in nature where we can soak up our experience with a final tasting sensory experience of Shaker tea and treats.

2 hour session begins and ends in Shaker Village. Space is limited.

Forest Bathing, or Nature Therapy / Shinrin-Yoku, is a safe outdoor guided mindfulness group practice with proven health benefits. Nev Hoffman sessions offer a slow guided mindfulness walk through nature settings, several 10-15 minute guided mindfulness sensory invitations done individually, and then a final tea gathering at the end. Every part of the session is done in a quiet nature setting and we only walk very slowly over the course of about a 1/2 mile or less. The many well researched health benefits include slowing your pulse, lowering blood pressure, improving natural immune system, lowering stress, and increasing creativity…to name a few.

Walk starts promptly on time. Please arrive 15 minutes early to find parking and walk to starting point.

Nev will be greeting people starting 1/2 hour ahead of class time.

Lightweight portable tripod camp chairs provided.

Please dress in layers for the weather. Rain jackets and umbrellas encouraged in case of rain.

Event is rain or shine. A note: rain is a sensory delight, but high winds/storms are not safe! We will announce via email and social media of a high winds weather cancellation.

Please bring/wear bug repellent if desired. We will have some on hand, too.

Bring a water bottle and a blanket, if desired.

We love our furry friends, but please no dogs allowed for this group guided session in order to ensure a comfortable and mindful experience for you and for others.

Please note there are bathrooms at Shaker Village, but not on the Bog.
