The Joy of Spring in Maine: Guided Forest Bathing

  • Hilton Winn Preserve - York Land Trust 174 Ogunquit Road Cape Neddick, Maine 03902 United States (map)

Awaken your senses and embrace the renewal of spring with a guided Forest Bathing experience at York Land Trust. As the landscape comes to life with fern buds, birdsong, and the scent of fresh earth, we’ll slow down and connect with nature through gentle, mindful practices. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-Yoku, this immersive gentle walk over 1/2-1 mile invites you to breathe deeply, notice the small wonders of the season, and find a sense of calm and connection. No experience necessary—just a willingness to unwind and enjoy the beauty of spring.

Forest Bathing is an outdoor guided mindfulness group practice with proven health benefits. The session offers a slow guided walk through natural forest settings, several 10-15 minute guided sensory invitations done individually, and then a final tea gathering at the end. Every part of the session is done in a quiet forest setting. The many health benefits include slowing your pulse, lowering blood pressure, improving natural immune system, lowering stress, and increasing creativity…to name a few.

Details:
• Walk starts promptly at 1pm. Please arrive early. Nev will be greeting people starting at 12:30 at the parking lot.
• Tripod camp chairs provided.
• Please dress in layers for the weather. Rain jackets and umbrellas encouraged in case of rain.
• Insects should still mostly be sleeping, but bring/wear bug repellent if desired. I will have some on hand too.
• Bring water or blanket if desired.
• We love our furry friends, but please no dogs allowed for this group guided session in order to ensure a comfortable and mindful experience for you and for others.
• Please note there are no bathrooms at the site.
• Event is rain or shine. A note: while light rain or snow can heighten the sensory experience, high winds pose a real safety risk due to the possibility of falling branches. Unlike a typical walk, Forest Bathing involves pausing and spending time near trees, making calm and stable weather essential for a relaxed and secure experience. We will announce a high winds or storm cancellation via email.
